This is an excellent application for getting details on media files but why is the MAS version behind the release on the website?

This is definitely a very useful tool for anyone editing/creating/transcoding video. However, it has issues with multiple files. 1) As another reviewer stated, you cant compare 2 files side-by-side. 2) It doesnt retain any file history. After youve dropped 2 or more files on the app, it *looks* like you can pull-down a history list and jump to any recent file. However, the pull-down list never contains anything more than the current file. This should be an easy fix I hope they take care of soon.
This awesome little app never lets me down. I keep it in my dock and just drag files to it whenever I need info. Highly recommended.
I use this app every day… love it. Only thing i miss: A compare tool, so i can compair to files
Very useful application. However, unable to have more than one window open at a time. I want to compare to files. There is no compare function. I will give it five stars when this feature is added.
There seems to be a glitch in the programe as it shows 2 channel when it is really 5.1 channel. This was not the case on the old version.
The tool works well, but as others have pointed out, its usefulness is limited by the inability to have multiple windows open at once. It’s most useful function is to compare files, and that is awkward right now. Once it has that feature, it will be a 5-star program. It is also time for it to add h.265 support.
With the formats tower of babel this is a very helpful app. Do a lot of surroud encoding decoding. Double checking the specs that way is a real timesaver. Use it on 10.9.5 without any issues.
Tried many files. Only got info on some. If they were too many folders deep, the program threw an error. Waste of 99 cents!
Its fairly clear that this is a port of a Linux-oriented project. While technically superior, and the basis for several other apps on the MAS, its difficult to use, and the interface is ugly. Further, its crippled by the lack of a side-by-side comparison. If youre looking for a good cheap video inspector, then this is it, but if youre looking for something more Mac-centric, keep looking.
It performs really well and works as expected. The one critical missing feature is support for opening multiple windows. It supports opening multiple files but the files are only selectable from a drop-down menu, which makes side-by-side comparison of file information very difficult.
NO ability to create text report about all files in folder Versions for other OSes can do this I have to use emulator to get normal detailed reports
Perfect….
Does everything the WIndows version does but needs a way to set the default view.
This is a great little app for getting deep info on your audio and video files. Its fast, simple, and easy. However, it currently does not support multiple open windows, so you cannot compare files or open multiple files at the same time. To do that now, you have to copy and paste info, or do screen captures.
I use this frequently to inspect media files to learn how they are encoded, number of channels, bitrate, etc.. Others have reported issues with multiple files and history - for me this is not an issue because its not how I use the product. I typically have a media file in the finder I am curious about - I hit Command-Spacebar which brings up spotlight search and type mediainfo and hit enter. that launches media info. next I drag the file from the finder onto the mediainfo icon in the doc - my files states are displayed instantly. This has been good enough for my own needs so for me, I rate it 5 stars.
